BROCKLANDS
Woodland Burial

Access and Visiting

Visitors to Brocklands are welcome during normal opening hours (i.e. during daylight hours). There is a network of woodchip paths over the site, but visitors are not encouraged to seek out individual graves, as once trees and plants have become established, this could have a negative impact on the wood. Plots become a part of a larger whole, i.e. the woodland.

There is a small section of the site next to the burial area, which is intended for quiet contemplation. There is a bench where you may sit and enjoy the view, with a holly and sweet briar hedge around it giving a secluded atmosphere.

There are special posts for bird feeders, and visitors may bring their own fat balls etc., to hang on the posts, or bring nuts to fill the feeders. This may be done by visitors instead of leaving graveside flowers, as a gesture of remembrance.

Families are welcome to bring a dog to a funeral if they wish. At all other times, however, in order to avoid the problem of dog-fouling, visitors are requested to keep dogs in their cars or tie them to the post provided at the entrance.
